The country of Guatemala is in stage 3 of the Demographic Transition because of lots of different characteristics. It has decreasing birth rates because of improved medical care and diet and fewer children needed. It has low death rates because of improvements in medical care, water supplies and sanitation so fewer children die. The population growth is slowing down at 1.91% and the rate of natural growth is also decreasing at 2.4%. The fertility is low at 3.6 because of more opportunities for women there now.
